Villa Villekula vs. Beach Garden Villa vs. Argonauta

Post by ATG »

We have been to STJ numerous times, and am planning a family trip for my (gulp) 40th b-day next July 4th week (2009). Parents, sister & brother-in-law and their 3 kids, all newbies. I'm thinking we gotta have full a/c, easy driving access, and a house that won't leave my mom complaining for a week!

Anyway...anyone have any recent reviews on Villa Villekula, rented by Seaview Vacation Homes?

Anyone stay yet at Beach Garden Villa, a new house in Chocolate Hole being offered by Vacation Vistas?

Trying to decide between these 2 and Argonauta. Price wise, leaning toward Villa Villekula. Proven track record, leaning toward Argonauta. Newness, leaning toward Beach Garden Villa. HELP!
(Thanks!)

I stayed at Villa Villakula 8 years ago. This was our first group trip and everyone loved the house. It was a very easy drive from Cruz Bay (we went out every night), people loved jumping in the water and the kayaks they provide were used every day. The deck space was nice then, but looks like it has been expanded since. Spent lots of time with cocktails watching the pelicans dive and the inside living space was quite spacious.

That being said, there are a few cons. Only 2 of the bedrooms have their own bathroom (the master upstairs and the king bedroom downstairs). The other 3 bedrooms share one upstairs bathroom and the 5th bedroom (downstairs) is TINY with two little twin beds - I don't even think it had a window. The kitchen is basic but adequate. The villa is a nice home, but not near the luxury of the other 2 villas you are looking at.

Hope this helps!

We too stayed at Villa Villekula several years ago and found it very nice. No- not as fancy as some but perfect for our family. How old are the 3 kids? Our kids were in their teens so we really appreciated the fact that they could go to their own "downstairs" apartment and we could get some "space." Also, the villa had kayaks and the kids loved kayaking over to the Westin beach and using all their equipment! The down size- the Westin had no problem serving alcohol to the kids (2 were 18, 1 was 16 and the other 14). The pool was also very nice.
