what about tortola for a day:what to do and see
We're thinking of either jvd or tortola for a day via ferry. for tortola, should we rent a car and go around the island? Any ideas helpful; we'd like to go on Sunday
Sunday will be a quieter day. But, that's okay. I would definitely rent a car. There is a Hertz in West End/Sopers Hole where most of the ferries drop off.
A good itinerary would be Smugglers Cove, run by Bomba's for the spectacle, lunch in Cane Garden Bay or Brewers Bay, up over the hump to Road Town and back to Sopers Hole for the ferry. Sage Mountain is easy to fit in there and has killer views.
On JVD I would only rent a car of I was there for more than two nights or not staying on White Bay.
Cheers, RickG

One of our favorite things we did on Tortola was spending the day at Smugglers Cove. Very relaxing and beautiful. The best part was the guy with the little daquiri cart...he made mango daquiris with the best tasting mangoes I've ever had...yum...I'm sure the location had no influence on my opinion of those mangoes...
Cane Garden Bay was also great, but there's a lot more going on and more people, but there are several good places to eat or grab a drink.
If you happen to be in Road Town for lunch, a good spot is Capriccio Di Mare. It's a little Italian cafe'. Very good pizzas...I think my husband and I ate there twice and got pizza to go one night!
