villa help
my wife and i are planning our first trip to stj....we are going in may for 5 nights and wanted to stay closer to coral bay then cruz bay...we are looking for a/c and pool/spa and a decent view..budget is $200-$250/night...we came across lille paradis (pool and spa) and also siempre azul(spa only, but better view) on the www.windspree.com site but can find no info on the forum about them...leaning toward lille paradis, but pics of view aren't impressive...any help here? also, is view more important then location, more important then pool, etc, etc...in other words, it being our first time, we might have our priorities backwards...we have searched extensively on-line and haven't found that 'perfect' villa yet...any help guys? also, what about fish bay area? easy drive back around to coral bay/salt pond?

we don't necessarily need to or want to be IN coral bay, just not next to cruz bay...we wanted something quiet and secluded and from what we've read, the areas on the coral bay side of the island fit the bill better then the cruz bay side...please let me know if i'm missing something...we are rookies! thanks...
nothintolose, we are in lafayette...go saints!!!

Fish Bay should fit the bill as well. I think that you will find that most areas on the island are quiet, some are just more populated. Remember that the island is small and Cruz Bay is more of a village than a town.
I think that you will find many places all over the island that are private and quiet.
Try looking at Bordeaux Mountain as well.

Hi Cajunjimbo,
Fish Bay to Coral Bay is, I think, a classic case of "you can't get there from here." In other words, they look close, and they 'are' close, but the roads just don't go all the way through. Don't look at Fish Bay if you are most interested in easy access to Coral Bay/Salt Pond.
EDIT: I posted and then saw your response--Fish Bay is quiet, it's just not a quick drive to anywhere. The views are good, depending on where the house is.

It's like looking in your soup and finding a whole different alphabet.

Here is an old post on this Board from someone who stayed at Siempre Azul:
"My husband and I stayed there a couple of years ago. We loved it. The pros: the villa is beautiful, very nicely built and furnished, the waterfront location is awesome, the privacy is unbeatable (there is not another villa nearby), and it had top rate amenities. The cons: it is small (one bedroom) and it is a drive to Cruz Bay, most restaurants, north shore beaches, etc. However, the size didn't bother us a bit - it was very romantic and we thought the drive was worth the privacy. We were 100% satisfied with it. Besides, Coral Bay is great - some of the best restaurants, beach bars, and beaches are nearby!"

Cajunjimbo,
What time of year are you going because the rates are significantly different in the off-season.
The villa we are staying at on Gifft Hill, Seawatch (http://www.caribbeanvilla.com/seawatch/seawatch.html), is $260/night for two people in the off-season.
Also, don't just look at two bedrooms because the villa have rates for two people as well.

p.s. Geaux Saints is right - we were at the dome for the game last weekend against the 49ers...good stuff!!!!
