trip report Nov 11-18 Travel day evening

Post by wontongirl »

Just to set everyone up. We are 2 - 40 something couples. Mike, Tammy, Don and Lynn. We all have kids, we have 9 and 14 year old boys
and Lynn and Don have girls 4yo and 1 1/2 yo twins. This was an adult trip to rest and have a break from supervising children. We did accomplish our goals but did have to supervise the caterer after the explosion!! Now that I have your attention- here goes....

We had a blast. Let's see where did I leave off...
So Paco gets us to the villa- driveway was very easy, not hard at all. Finally after a very long day, we arrive at Bongo Bongo. It was everything we wanted and more. As you enter you walk through the foyer/dining room with a very large round dining room table( with beautiful fresh flowers) and entry table. There is also an area with some of Josephine's(landscaper) magic, planted in doors, tiki torches and all. Off to your right is an open area with kitchen, den, laundry and half bath. This would be where the cypress ceiling is that is now sprayed with cooking oil. If your not a blog reader, you need to start. I'll exlain later. The foyer opens to the pool area, hot tub and waterfall. To the left, the red room, and bath and outdoor shower. To the right gold bedroom, bath, and outdoor shower. There are little cozy sitting areas on the patios everywhere!!!!
I had to pick a different one every day to have my O.J. or Bloody Mary. The lighting is also fabulous in this villa! You willnot be able to keep up with all of the light switches- it's insane but it does add alot to the villa. It's awesome.
Did I tell any of you that I have a Master's in Biology and I am a very poor writer sohang in there with me please. This is not my strong point!

So Paco shows us around and gets himself some vodka from the freezer( several times) while we take the tour. We hate to rush him off but the Razorbacks have just started playing on ESPN2 and we have drinks to make, snacks to eat, and some hog callin' to do!!! If you have no idea what a hog call is then watch Arkansas in a bowl game this year(stillnot sure which one since we lost to Florida on Saturday) and see for yourself. We just hung out and decidedto not go into CB for dinner. We don't really have what we need to eat. We are all PO'd that we didn't order the tenderloin and snack trays Maribeth told us about from Christies. We didn't care for our provisioning from KatiLady-usually its fine.
They did get the beer right though so we watched the game, hot tubbed some and retired fairly early.

Day 2- Up very early-heard a rooster, this is my first for this side of the island. We are in chocolate hole area. Toast out by the pool and some unpacking while my mike and Lynn sleep in. Don and I chat about our day.
We go driving around the island to show our friends. They are STJ virgins -brunch at Miss lucys, trip to Jolly dog, grocery shopping and hanging in the pool. My husband had a lethal margarita at Miss Lucy's. That made for an interesting trip home. OUr kids love the caps they sell at Jolly dog- "The beating will continue untill moral improves" They lost their last old one so we had to stop and stock up.
We had dinner at Rhumblines. It was great as always.
I love this place. It is one of my favorite on the island. I had the pork mojo, Lynn had the beef and Don had the tilapia. It was fantastic and the best of the three entrees. All were good though. Mike had to stay at home and go to bed early-I told you that margarita was lethal. I guess the bloody's were also! haha.
Coming soon... Maho, beach bar and more lurking and hanging from Bongo Bongo!!!!![/u][/b]

Excellent, sounds like you had a lot of fun!

I would love to hear more about the views from Bongo Bongo. That pool is so tempting, but I wonder how the ocean views are? It is kind of hard for me to tell from the pictures. I will say that they sure have it going on style-wise!

I had only stayed on the northshore before and I was worried that there would not be enough privacy for me. That was not a problem. We loved it. The views were great and at night you could watch the cruise ships twinkling lights from the patios. From the Westin you go up the hill and take your first left. Then your first right on Travelers Trail and then it is your first driveway on the left. You are up very high above it all. We liked being closer in to Cruz Bay. We were about 1 min. from the Westin and about 5 min. to CB. We are playing to go back in November and maybe even May 2007 also. We aren't interested staying at another villa. We really liked this one. We will have to stay somewhere else if we go with a larger group but that would be the only reason we would change. The landscaping is fabulous and the house was well-equipped. Hope this helps. Email me with any other questions.

Ahh finally, I've been waiting for your report since I read about the exploding wonton on the Bongo Bongo blog.

Thanks for posting Taminark! Looking forward to the rest!

We love Rhumblines too and always end up there at least twice during our stay.

OK – I’m play “catch-up” on the forum. Sounds like a good start. Does the villa normally stock vodka in the freezer – or was it a left over. Nice touch if they leave a good vodka in the freezer – it’s my drink of choice. But then – I’ll drink most anything.

Maybe I'm weird (ok, I know I'm weird), but does anyone besides me think it's strange that the villa rep would be pouring himself Vodka from the freezer while he's showing you around? That just doesn't seem right to me somehow. Very unprofessional. :?

Enjoying your trip report! We were not far behind you at Allesandra last week and I know what you mean about the roosters! They went all night long when the moon got pretty full this past weekend!

Football watching in Paradise with friends sounds like a blast, keep em coming!

I don't get this villa rep thing drinking Vodka??]
