Sweet Plantains - Pia

Post by Patty »

Pia,
Is Sweet Plantains still as good as it was in 2006? I don't remember if you remember meeting me and my husband at Mongoose and then we saw you again at Sweet Plantains....Anyway... I know we thoroughly enjoyed our meal and would like to go again when we are there July 19-30. Maybe we'll see you!

The food is still WONDERFUL :)

We ate there twice last week (I had been gone for 3 weeks and needed my fix :) ) You will have a great meal and hope to see you there or around town :)

It is not far past the Colombo Shopping area on the right in Coral Bay.

It's on the same side of the road as, and just past the Coccoloba Shopping Center (home to Aqua Bistro, Lilly's, Big Belly Deli etc) - in Coral Bay.

It is a coral/peach/pink (ish) building. If you drive the bend that curves to the right you have gone to far :)

Here is their website.

We haven't eaten there yet but want to. Do you prefer to eat inside or out?

We always eat inside - don't really know why but it's just a habit for us. When you are outside it feels great except when an unexpected shower happens then it's a mad dash inside with your plate - but that's just part of the charm of island dining  :)

Here is a picture of Prince's "spice martini.." they grow the sugar cane and herbs in their garden.

I keep this picture on my desktop and look at it wistfully once in a while.

Their food is so delicious.

We ate there a couple of weeks ago for the first time. All I can say is AWESOME! The food was fabulous, the owners and staff were wonderful, and I definitely recommend eating outside. And, tell the kitty cat that I said hello. :)

Maryanne, that looks sooo good. I think I'm going to fix me a pom martini right now. This forum gives me the best ideas! :D

We went there when they first opened and the food was beyond great!
Also, Mrs. JT says that they have the nicest, cleanest washroom on the island!

OK, anybody care to share what they have had to eat that was great? I won't be back until next year, so I need to know specifically what I should be drooling over while I wait. :)

Here is a link to their menu (or see my post above for their full link)

We love both the East Indian and West Indian Curries, Ribs and Pork Tenderloin along with their Yuca Fries and Grits . For starters, any of their "Soup of the Day", Cerviche or Chicken Drumettes, and for dessert the Coconut Flan or Flourless Chocolate Torte :)

I feel another visit coming on........yummmmmmy :) :) :)
