trip report ( day 1 )
Mon. June 9
Awake at 6:30 am. Lets start the day!!!! Coffee on the deck- cat birds visiting ( I dont know if they are cat birds...they are those brown birds, speckled breasts, with tails that stick up, and are always begging).Hubby and I go for a nice long walk in neighborhood. Lots of hills and that is good...many rum drinks ahead!!! Love to check out the villas. Hey! No one is here at Maria Breeze...we gp take a peak. It was obvious that no one was there. No renters, everything closed up, and blinds drawn. no cars. We are not peeping toms...walk down driveway and no further...wow! what a great view. Maria Breeze is right across the street from Kismet.
Wake up girls at 9 , eat and away we go to Maho. beep beep..."HI" to Thomas at smoothie stand!!! We love him!
OMG...we get to Maho at 11:30 and only about 4 "clumps" of people!!! this is incredible! We have come to STJ at spring break for the past 4 years. So we have forgotten how quiet it is in June! this is great! At spring break we really had to plan our day and get to the beaches at a decent early hour to get a close parking space. We get a prime beach spot...part sun, part shade. snorkeling is better on right today. We do both, right and left. Barracuda checking us out nad lots of needlefish, my fave!
Stop at Zozo's on the way home to make reservation for Wed. No prob. Hang out by pool and then pina coladas in hot tub. Beautiful sunset, too!!! Lime Inn for dinner tonight. We walk right in! Again...wow...couldnt do that at spring break. whats the owners name???? He greets us like we are long lost family. We parked at Slimmans because in spite of no crowds, it is STILL hard to find a place to park! Grouper for me and Twin #1. Sea Reef for Dear Husband and twin #2. Plates clean once again ! Service was terrific. Home, then to bed early. Love it! what a great first day!

Sounds like a great day! I agree with you about the owner of Lime Inn, we'd only been there once, two years before, but he treated us like family. He couldn't have remembered us, but he made us feel like returning heros. By the way, you said your husband had "sea reef" for dinner...what is that, exactly?

Suzi, sounds like your first day was perfect! Where are you staying? By the way, those birds are Pearly Eyed Thrashers. Very aggressive, if you feed them don't put it too close to where you are sitting as they aren't afraid of anything. When we were at Harmony last summer, my 6:30 a.m. companion each morning was a Thrasher - me with my coffee and he with his grasshopper (smashing it to death on the deck at my feet). We developed quite a bond

Suzi,
Lime Inn is our favorite.
The first time we went Rich asked us where we were from ? The usual question. We said NC. THen he asked what city ? we said Raleigh. What part of Raleigh ? We said North Raleigh. What subdivision? Stongehenge. What street ? We were thinking how does he know this. His sister lives a couple of blocks from us.
He does make everyone feel like they are visiting his home.
