It's not STJ but I really liked it!!

Hi All:

Last week I went to Parris Island, SC to watch my Godson graduate from the Marine Corps bootcamp. It was a great trip and I am so proud of him.

We found this beach on Hunting Island (which is a State Park) and spend the day. WOW. As most of you can relate, it takes a lot for a beach to impress me after STJ. I really, really enjoyed this place.

We drove about 2 miles through what seemed like jungle and ended at this beautiful beach. The beach itself was flat and long. The water - 90-some degrees. I don't think I've even felt water that warm in STJ. We swam, lounged on the beach, and went exploring into the jungle. We even found an alligator in one of the swamps

Since my Godson will be back down that way for his school, I did some research and found this area is really affordable for a vacation. It seems that some beach houses were built a long time ago before this area became a Natl' Park and they are still there for rent. The state also has cabins in the park for rent.

If anyone is looking for a great beach vacation in the states I highly recommend this area!

That does look interesting! We visited Hilton Head last year and enjoyed it. I'm envisioning the same type of island without all the development - works for me :)

Thanks for the info!

Ccasebolt is right on. It is similar to Hilton Head but lacks all the development. I think we were one of approx. 5 families on the beach.

And Tom, I will let him know. Thank You!
