cptnkirk's final full day in paridise

Post by cptnkirk »

All right it's the final full day and were going to Trunk. But not before we have a hearty nutritious breakfast of sausage and eggs to get the morning started right. Thought I was going to say bacon didn't ya. I had brought a package of Bob Evans sausage down it was so yummy to the tummy. Pack the supplies for the day and were off. Get to Trunk about 8:30 and are one of the first in the lot also a plus ya get in free at that time in the morning.
Hit the beach and head left. For anyone going to Trunk head left if you want to avoid the crowds. Although it should be a good day as no cruise ships were supposed to be in today. We pick out our spot and set up camp for the day. Some one had built a little hut out of palm fronds so I spruced it up and claimed it mine for the day.

The conditions at Trunk were really good today so you could snorkel towards the left towards Jumbie. So off Andy and I went on our next snorkeling adventure. This was an excellent snorkel. It was better than the snorkel around the island lots of fish some good size ones too pretty good coral formations just a lot of cool stuff and no other snorkelers to get in the way. HEAD LEFT MY FORUM FRIENDS HEAD LEFT !

Opps sorry went a little crazy on the underwater pics wanted to give ya a feel for what is down there to the left it was a really nice find and I haven't heard anyone talk about it before. We get back from a really long snorkel and Teresa had set up on her private little beach around the rocks. At high tide there is no beach here but it was low tide and Teresa had found her Zen.

We party the afternoon away and soak in all of Trunks beauty in all its glory with just a few people on the left. Did I mention go to the left?

Walked down to the right tons of people everywhere well at least tons as far as St John is concerned, Took some pics and headed back to our private Trunk Beach.

Snorkeled one last time for a looooooooooong time and when I returned everyone was packed and ready to head home. Tonight was alacarte and it was eat whatever to get rid of as much as possible. Went up to the witches walk for a last look at the view. You really have an awesome view up there its spectacular.

I'm waiting for the beverage running commentary... did the liver need a vacation?

Fun!

What I would give to be sleeping in that little palm tree hut on Trunk right now!

Thanks for sharing another fun day. I have not snorkeled the left at Trunk before...next time.

Thanks for all the trip reports, loved them. I usually head to Trunk on the way back from Salt Pond or Maho in the late afternoon (after 3-4) and most of the time it's free and I always "head left". Passed out  , I mean sleeping under a shady tree on the beach, great last day Cptn.

Your sunsets must have been further north each night. Did the sun ever set north of the islands off the north shore of STT, ie. over water or potential "green flash"?

You found the pool at Orions Hill warm enough even after a whole day at Trunk? That's great!

All in all, do you think the view from OH's widow walk is the best villa view on STJ at that time of year?

Great reports!

Rick I punished the Liver again figured I had elaborated on it enough. Did give it a break when I got home not one drink for a week suprised I didn't get the shakes
Greyhound it's a Cannon S2 IS is 12X optical 48X digital Zoom I beleive Cannon is up to the S5 IS, just get more camera for a comparable price.
MLS don't know if its the best but it sure would be hard to beat you can even see the white sand of White Bay on Jost on a clear day
I believe it's over open water in this pic.

Perfect!

I'm estimating then that from about April 21 to August 21, OH has sunsets over water. The rest of the year sunsets are over St. Thomas.

Thanks for the info and great photo.

Nice report and pictures, as usual. Thanks for sharing.
