Airport arrival time question

Post by cliffnchristi »

Hey everybody!
Two weeks away from some serious limin'...Got an airport arrival question. We are flying from Charlotte on a Saturday morning and doing carry on only. I plan to print our boarding passes ahead of time. Our flight leaves at 9:40. How far ahead of flight time should we arrive at airport?? This is our first time doing carry on so I'm not sure if the 2 hr before flight time still applies....

Thanks for your help!!!

The two hours they advise includes time to stand in line and check in so since you'll be going straight to security I think you could get there 90 minutes early and be more than fine...even with just an hour I think you'd be fine.

I normally get to the airport for flights for work about 45 minutes early (and I've never missed a flight), but I wouldn't cut it that close for vacation.

We have pretty long security lines here in DC at Dulles, National and BWI. I always give myself 45 minutes to get through security plus time to get to the gate. That's 90 minutes early for us.

The only flat tire I've gotten in the last 15 years was on the way to the airport! Unloading the car to access the spare tire was exciting.

Yo...neighbor. Agree with Rick. At least 90 minutes...or more. Charlotte is a nice station. Should have no issues with security lines. Look for the Island magazines at the gate. Grab two. We will be on islands from the 12th to the 21st. Hope our paths cross. Where are you staying?...There will be a "forum cluster" on Sunday the 15th at the Beach Bar..God bless...Bill

Hi Bill!
We'll be there from the 14-21 staying at Calypso Del Sol in Chocolate Hole. We will be there with another couple that always goes with us and a newbie couple. Where are ya'll staying?? Don't know that we'll make the forum gathering, but you can bet we'll be at Woody's for Happy Hour probably every day!!!

Safe travels and hope to run into ya somewhere along the line!!! :)

Thanks everyone for the great advice. Looks like 90 minutes is the ticket!!!

When we fly back east we always take the RED EYE, walk right thru security at 11pm-midnight. Get into ATL at 6am and make it to the beach bar for happy hour, no better way to start the trip. We will be an STJ 6-12 to 6-21. Hope you all have a safe trip and we'll see you at the beach bar on 6-15.
