Any opinions on the Canon Powershot SD 790IS??

I am buying my daughter a camera for her trip to France and I've done a lot of research on the internet and this one keeps popping up as the best choice. Do any of you have any experience with this camera, or do you have a better suggestion? I am not looking for a camera with underwater housing, but I would like one that takes great outdoor photos.

Don't have any experience with the 790 but I can strongly recommend the 850IS! Good news...she will love ANY Canon...

Do not have experience with 790, but did buy the A570IS after seeing some pictures on here. Also bought the underwater case and it makes great pictures above or below the water.

basically you CANNOT go wrong w/a canon powershot. they take awesome shots, in full point and shoot automatic.

I bought a Canon Powershot A720IS before our VG trip, which I was very happy with. And I am not thinking about uw pictures. I have also heard good things about Canon Powershot A570IS, which I believe came before the A720IS.
