Kenny Chesney interview on DC101 this morning
Did anyone catch the full interview with KC? Any STJ mentions? The short part I heard seemed to be more about his television work than anything else.

Yes, I heard it. The entire conversation lasted about 10 minutes. Kenny pulled into town last night. He's doing a concert at M&T Bank Stadium in Baltimore tomorrow night. Elliott lost a $30 bet because he told the rest of the gang that Kenny wouldn't call in this morning.RickG wrote:Did anyone catch the full interview with KC? Any STJ mentions? They talked mostly about the tour and Kenny being nominated again for AMC Entertainer of the Year. Elliott did bring up St. John, as he and his wife Jackie were married there (I didn't know that and I listen to the show pretty regularly). He asked Kenny how he felt about being recognized on island so much and does he miss being able to just walk into the Lime Inn or the Quiet Mon and not be bothered. He said something to the effect of "yah, the island doesn't feel the same way it did for me back when. That's why I have a boat now."
Gee whiz, you produced a whole album about the island. What did you expect?
Cheers,
Christine

Oh gosh, there is one part about our sunset sail with the stripper that I forgot to mention...they played KC the entire freakin' time. Our "captain" made a point of showing all of us where, "Mister Kenny Chesney's" house is located.
Some of us on this board go back a long way. I've tried to stay away from the subject of KC, due to the rash of vulgar PMs that came my way years ago when I so politely suggested that he sucks.
Anyway, it was just another tidbit about our sunset sail experience that I thought I would share.

I think it funny.......that Kenny thought by getting married on the island, releaasing an album about the islands and pretty much talking 'bout them, having his picture at Woody's and places that life would stay the same........
I lived on island for 2 yrs and I count on 1 hand how many times anyone ever even asked about him......
He blends in and no one really bothers him.......
I remember during the world series Rick mentioned he saw him and his group at the Quiet Mon but I bet no one paid him any mind..........

As a KC fan, I have to chime in here.
Alot of people can get pretty nasty on alot of forums when his name comes up.
If you're not a fan...fine....if you are, congrats.
It's the same in Key West when you ask about JB. Locals don't want to hear anything about him there.
I have a problem with people who really don't even know his songs, or has been to a concert judging him or his fans.
Can't we be left alone??
)
Honestly, KC fans are scared to even post anything about him for fear that they'll get those nasty pm's in their mail. He's not just about STJ.

I think that some people just don't like country music or his music in general.
I make fun of rap fans because I do not like that type of music and do not understand how anyone can listen to it. 50 cent has a house here( he is now selling it) and I get sick of people asking me if I ever see him. It is the same thing.
I don't think anyone is judging anyone, they are just bored of the whole conversation. The fans defend him like he is a memeber of their family and it is a bit on the silly side.
I like his music. I do not know him so I can't say that I like him. If he wants to hang out in St.John, great. But don't plan your vacation when you think he is on island, people do and it is just silly

I know I don't plan my vacation around him. I'm not even really sure I knew that he had a place on STJ when I first went to STT. I don't think I was even into his music them. I agree that people are crazy if they're "stalking" him on STJ, but that's what Key West is about with alot of people because of Jimmy Buffet.

KENNNY RULES BRING ON THE HATE MAIL I CAN TAKE IT FLAME AWAY.
We liked Kenny many years before we went to ST John. He sings about alot of our life experiences the St John stuff is just a bonus.Has Kenney really changed St John that much after singing about it as we have only been going down a couple years. My wife tells me his new hangout is Malibu he does seem to be selling alot of his St John properties.

I think there are people that like STJ that also happen to like KC, there are people that like STJ that don't care for KC (for his music anyway), and then there are the people that like STJ because they like anything and everything KC.
The last group are the ones that come across as creepy (maybe not clown/cherry nose creepy, but you know what I mean).
Personally I'm not a huge fan of the country music genre, but I do know of a couple of his songs that I've heard that I like.
But I wouldn't drive across town to see him play if someone gave me a ticket, and I certainly wouldn't bug him if I ran into him on STJ, even if I recognized him.

I have listened to country music since I was a kid and I do like Kenny Chesney, along with numerous other country music stars. I have actually seen him in concert a few times. He is a great performer.
I also love St. John, but it is a totally separate thing. I would never consider planning my vacation around trying to see him, nor would I bother him if I happened to. And that won't happen since I choose to go during the off season which is while he is touring. I think that stalking KC, or any celebrity for that matter is a little crazy.

cptnkirk, I'm with you!!!! My love for Kenny and my love for the Islands are two very different things!
I can handle the hate mail too.
