St John Villa $$ Question

Post by nmclain1978 »

Hi,
I am looking for a private villa that is fairly inexpensive. My husband and I are going in October to celebrate our one year wedding anniversary. I am not the campground type, so I am not looking for one of those campground, back to nature things. :) We would like to go for 10 days. I would like to stay near Choc. Hole, as I will have family down there at the same time. Can anyone suggest anything? I keep getting quotes from Villa companies of about $3000 for the 10 days. That seems to be a little steep. Any information anyone can provide would be greatly appreciated. Thank you very much!

We stayed at Ocean Pearl last year and we were very happy with the Villa. It has 2 bedrooms downstairs next to the pool. There is a spiral staircase to go to the two levels inside or the outside stairs. It was clean it is private. The directions to the Villa is as follows: Head to Chocolate Hole after the Westin you go up the hill and at the top go left and it is the first driveway on the left. Also the Price is right.

Simply Paradise Villa is $1575/week that time of year and got a good report on this Board. We had friends stay at Angelica---near Chocolate Hole---it was very nice--no ocean view but a pretty pool area. About $1800/week. If you wait it out, you can usually book at Westin for about $150/night that time of year (on Hotwire).

cloud nine villas has 3 villas in area that have some good prices in with 15% discounts to 10/15. we've stayed at moonsong and sundance twice each and found them to be clean, comfortable, well equipped and good views but pond bay project construction across salt pond could begin to impact in future. at sundance in dec and only had to look at eyesore of scalped site.

we looked at palmello on one of our trips and thought she'd offer exceptional value if willing to settle for limited views.

their web site with prices and availability is http://www.cloud9villas.com/discounts.htm manager, marcy appel is great to deal with and very responsive.

There are tons of properties under that price range.
It also depends on what you are looking for... pool, a/c, area of the island, etc. You can check our search for more ideas. Off the top of my head I would say...

Innisfree Sky Cottage
Reef Madness
French Cap

Hope this helps!

We've never stayed here, but we are looking at it for 2009 -- look at Blue Aweigh Cottage thru www.carefreegetaways.com or thru www.lavendarhillsuites.com (view the cottage). The cottage is adjacent to the owner's home, but they supposedly give you full privacy & the pool & hot tub are for the guests' exclusive use. It is $1365/week or $195/night. They may have a special during October.

Just another vote for Sundance by Cloud 9 if it's not rented for your time. We stayed there last August and were totally happy. The view over the Salt Pond isn't perfect, but the view the other direction is very nice and you can hear the waves from Hart Bay which is good. It has a pool and a nice hot tub that we used frequently. Marcy was great to work with and it's an easy drive from town. For the price, it's great, very clean and has everything you need.

We like this place and it is reasonable, but close to Cruz Bay. You can walk to Cruz Bay though.
