A week from Saturday!!

Post by pswlrw »

I just had to share my excitement! The "No Cousin Left Behind Tour" hits the island is just 10 days!! I am lucky enough to count many cousins among my dearest friends, and this year we have them coming in from California, North Carolina, Tennessee and Massachusetts!!

I have reconfirmed our jeep rentals at the airport. (I reserved in 2 different names this year, so they don't "delete the duplicate" like they did last year :o ). We are renting a 3rd jeep on St. John. I called in my order to Gary at Mixology yesterday. (By the way, when I asked if he had a certain wine, he just said "I'll order it". I told him I'd take whatever he had that was comparable, but he said now that he doesn't have the retail space, he just orders whatever you want).

Have Monday booked for Captain Kevin on Born to Rhumb - Sandy Spit here we come - can't wait!! Let's hope this year, we don't have weather delays.

We plan to eat in at the villa a bit more this year, but definitely will be doing dinner at Zozo's and I think we'll try Rhumblines this year.

I just can't contain my excitement, so thanks to all of you for indulging me in my little "pre-trip" report.

I feel your excitement! Just 14 days for us! My brain has already left, so I'm pretty worthless here at work!

We are flying out a week from Saturday too! Are you going out of Logan? I wonder if you are on my flight.

I have to say you are WAY more organized than me! I've got the accommodations and the car set, but have not booked anything else. I keep saying I am going to set up a sail, and I keep thinking about calling Gary at Mixology, but I have not done it yet. Procrastination is the spice of life! :D

Liamsaunt,

Unfortunately, we are not on your flight  I had originally booked it last June with FF miles, but they canceled the direct and now we are going through San Juan. Of course, they re-added the direct and we couldn't move the FF flight without paying $$. Oh well.

The only reason I am this organized is because I am "Julie the Cruise Director" for this gang. If it was just 2 of us, I would be much more laid back.

I'll keep a look out for you around the island.

Liamsaunt, we know the truth. You already have all of your spices measured out and in separate vials and ready to go. Bringing any amchoor, asafoetida or galanga this year?

Well, Rick G, that goes without saying! I had my spices packed two weeks ago. I have to take care of the important things first you know! :P

None of the above, but I do have achiote, charnushka seeds, and garam masala packed...

Have a great trip, Paula!

I played "cruise director" to a cast of 20 in mid-March, spread out among 3 houses. We had a wonderful trip, but honestly I did feel a little stress the first few days until I knew everyone was having a good time---then I relaxed a bit. Rhumblines was our favorite group dinner---they were very good about accomodating our large crew. Its almost 4 weeks later and I'm still having re-entry problems in my post-St. John 2008 life.

Thanks for the vote of confidence Jim. Actually, I just got back from Vegas where I helped organize my nephew's 100 person wedding - coordinating all that and making sure every thing ran smoothly was a lot of work! I think herding 9 drunks around St. John will seem like a walk in the park

Liamsaunt, you're my idol! Black onion seeds I've seen and used in an Indian potato dish. Yum!

Liamsaunt, if you don't want to have the burden of traveling back with any of those goodies, I'd be happy to help you out...
