ferry to jost van dyke

Post by lynnard »

Where does the ferry drop you off when you get to Jost Van Dyke? Do you have to take a taxi to your next destination (like Foxy's or Soggy Dollar)?
Also, if you opt to take the ferry to Tortola, any recommendations on where to go.. bars, etc?

Thanks!

Call me lazy, but you won't catch me walking to White Bay. Taxi's are readily available when you arrive at the ferry dock for $5pp each way. It's wise to ask your driver to pick you up to get back to the ferry. It leaves on time! If you really want to go to Foxy's, I would recommend doing it on the way back from White Bay and then walk to the ferry from there. I read a TR on this forum that said they had a hard time finding a taxi when they went to Foxy's first. Apparently they are pretty much gone after the ferry passengers are accomodated. We head straight to White Bay and never look back until it's time to catch the ferry. Have fun! Jost is great.
Going "home" again October 26th!

We've done the walk from Foxy's to White Bay after closing down Foxy's and the taxi drivers were in bed. Christine was being rather vocal about her dislike for that walk. It's a steep hill up. Foxy's is pretty dead in the morning. I would just head to White Bay. You can make a deal with the taxi driver to pick you up at White Bay at a particular time to head back.

Call the Dolphin people. They go from the NPS dock in STJ to Jost and will drop you off right on White Bay.

We did the $50 pp ferry from STJ to JVD. A taxi took us to White Bay and picked us up at a set time. He took us to Foxy's on the way back to the ferry dock. We had about 30-45 mins there then he took us to the ferry dock, no additional charge. We did buy him a drink at Foxy's and gave him a little extra tip and he was very appreciative. That was a great day!
