Upcoming Trip - More Suggestions?
Making our second trip to St. John this April. Our first trip a few years ago we stayed at Caneel. Great week and loved the resort. Spent most of the time on Caneel's beaches, drove the island one day, and ate at a new restaurant every night (except visited Lime Inn twice).
This time, we're at Splendore for a week. We've rented a jeep and are all set. We'll probably visit as many beaches as possible and again eat out every night. Looking for final suggestions from this group.
Anything I should bring that I am used to getting at a resort? Like snorkel gear?
We'd like to have some food delivered so we don't have to run immediately into town. Good caterer for staples (not dinners)?
Favorite restaurants? We might run to the BVIs one day. Suggestions for getting there? Charters?
Any suggestions on anything I want to consider are great.
THanks!

Plan to either bring your own snorkel gear or rent it from a watersports place once you are on the island. Personally, I prefer to bring my own mask and snorkel but then rent fins once we get there. I like to have a properly fitting mask and "dry" snorkel (special kind with a valve that keeps you from choking on water that enters the top).
As far as the BVI trip, everyone has their favorites. When we were there, we used New Horizons out of St. Thomas (we were on a boat called Breakaway). It carried around 30 ppl and we went to Virgin Gorda, Marina Cay, Jost and a snorkel stop (maybe Camanoe?). Others will have their own recommendations. We had a nice day, but I prefer a smaller charter if money isn't an issue.

We stayed at Splendore about 4-5 years ago - loved it. You can watch the cruise ships pull into and out of STT. If you are joggers/runners it is a good place to run - hilly but paved. Convenient to town. The main room gets a lot of afternoon sun. Lime Inn was one of our favorites - the blue cheese filet was excellent. Have a great time.
We were very pleased with Splendore last Feb, you made a good choice.
Vacationpants is right, it is a good neighborhood for getting out and about. Our group did at least one trip (walking) a day around the neighborhood and it was nice to see (and talk too) lots of other residents.
That trip, we had Katilady provision the starter basket, water, beer, wine and the first night's dinner (which was huge for four people).

Thanks for the comments so far. Even though you didn't realize it, both (vacationpants and pagirl) helped with the rental choice with your great reviews and comments of Splendore. Once I narrowed my possible choices, all signs pointed to Splendore. I don't think I've found a negative review yet, other than the sun shining all day on the house.
Thanks for the caterer suggestion as well. That sounds very close to what we're looking for.

sailing
if you want to go sailing, go to www.stjohntravelforum.com and look at the section on sailing. Has everyone listed. Also the snorkel spots.
