Prorating for an extra night???

Just wondering whether or not my rental company made a mistake when prorating us our villa for one extra night.

In doing the math, it seemed we were more than we should have been charged. When previously renting a villa for an extra night, we were charged one night's fee if you divided the weekly rental by 7 nights. I can't figure out what this company did.

Has anyone ever had to pay more for that additional night??? This is in the off-season as well.

No. The only time I've seen any kind of a difference was when booking a time period bridging low/high seasons. Could they have perhaps pro-rated some additional security deposit? I'd think that was kind of lame if they did that but see if the numbers work. Or, if the mgt co is CV, there is the 5% + 8% adds.

That was the price before the taxes and all of the days are during the low season.

It was not Caribbean Villas. We used them last time and added an extra night. They just charged us what the weekly rate was divided by 7 and added that amount to come up with the total which was what I would have assumed was what this company would have done.

I am hoping this was just an error, but I wanted to make sure no one else ever had this come up.

We did an extra night and were charged for the daily rate (cost/7 days = the extra charge)

I’d definitely ask. We always go for 10 days and have paid a properly prorated rate every time. One time I got the rental agreement and it was incorrect, so I contacted the agency and they easily admitted that they’d made a math error. Good luck, $1000 is a lot!

It's a mistake. Call the agency.

I would do the math myself and after you have figured out what the additional amount should be contact the agent and agree on the correct amount.

This has happened to me a number of times over the years. I actually just went through it last with with our agent when I told them that one of the weeks we're there in May we will be joined by another couple. When the reviced the contract they charge me the 4 person rate for both weeks instead of just one. I'm sure you can work it out.

I feel like an idiot - it was a mistake on my part cuz I didn't realize the rates went up since we booked and she was charging us for three bedrooms when I thought we were only initially starting out with two till we could get more firm commitments from the other couples.
