Jasmine & Angelica Villa - any input?

Post by 2bpeaceful »

So thanks to you, we are deciding between Angelica and Jasmine for our one-week stay in mid-July with our rambunctious 2-year old. Angelica is beautiful but Jasmine is slighly less expensive and has a great view.

Does Jasmine rent through anyone but CV?

I'd welcome input from you all about the benefits of either villa, including proximity to the Westin and general location...and why do we want to be close to the Westin anyway?

I'd also love to hear from anyone who has stayed at either villa.

Thanks!

sailorgirl responded about Jasmine at http://www.virgin-islands-on-line.com/f ... php?t=6139.

Jasmine is right up Rock Ridge Road on a ridge overlooking the Westin. The Westin is probably a 4 minute drive and a 20 minute walk. Walking back with a little one would be work.

Westin Beach? Nice clean white sand for sand castles!

Have fun.

Angelica

I just toured Angelica a few hours ago for the first time. Great spot. It is closer to the Westin than Jasmine. In fact, Angelica is probably the closest villa to the Westin which is not part of the Westin. It is up a small hill, but you'd have to go up that hill and then MORE hill to get to Jasmine.
We loved the pool and yard area at Angelica. That's definitely where I'd hang out. Very nice.
Someone else stayed there recently and wrote about it. I just did a search and several posts popped up but I confess I didn't read them all!

The only negative thing I remember reading regarding Angelica is that it has no view...if that's not of importance to you, it looks like a really cute villa....mia

We just stayed at Angelica feb 3 -10. We loved it, I wrote a review on it. My only complaints were the pedestal sinks in the bathrooms (no storage0. If you have any specific questions I will be happy to answer.

I stayed in Jasmine last summer, and posted a review under the Villa Review section. Click on the villa rental banner, upper left. I'd be happy to answer any specific questions, just PM me.

I did the walk down to the Westin, really about 10 minutes. The walk back up is steep!

We visited the Westin beach once and haven't been back since. I know that people with kids like it for the water toys and others like it for its proximity to food and drinks, but other beaches are much more beautiful.

The downside of Angelica is that it doesn't have a view (though it is priced accordingly). We had it on our short list a few years ago shortly after it was built, but when we only get to go to STJ once a year, I really want to have a view to enjoy...just my opinion though :)

Angelica looks like a nice spot. We have good friends staying there starting Friday (we're going at same time and staying at another nearby house in GCB area). We'll post a report when we get back.

I'm not sure there is a lot of advantage being "near" the Westin unless you actually stay at the Westin. The GCB area is nice, though, whether or not you use Westin facilities. You might take a look at staying at the Westin---either the regular rooms or the timeshare villas---if you look on Redweek you can sometimes find a timeshare to rent directly from an owner to get a better deal. I generally stay at stand-alone villas now, but we did stay at the Westin twice when our kids were young and our kids loved that pool.

I think Jasmine is the villa with the open sleeping loft above one of the bedrooms. I'd double check on this potential privacy issue.
