What about food? Can I bring my south beach bars in my carry on?

I carry bars like that too. I have never had tehm taken away from me.

There was one TSA guy who found them and seemed to have a problem. He looked and looked at them and he looked at them again. He looked at me. Then he studied the bars again. Finally I told him, "They're candy bars. I have a permit for them." Then he thought about it and let me go through.

They don't sell them at Starfish :( I have to buy them at The Deli Grotto - individual small bars :)

Mascara is a liquid/gel, so it should go in your quart-sized bag. Eyeliner pencils and other solids can go elsewhere.

liquids/gels

ohhh...that word liquid is such a subjective description....mascara, peanut butter (jar) , tide stain pens, mousse eyeshadow, lip gloss, tooth paste
as guess they are gels (?)...

they all have been described as liquids/gels when I had them with me....and had to be in 3 oz containers, plus in a ziplock.. or left behind

If you go here: http://www.tsa.gov/travelers/airtravel/ ... items.shtm, there is a detailed list toward the bottom of the page as to what you can and cannot bring on the plane. For instance, you cannot bring meat cleavers on-board. (thank God! )
