Starfish Gourmet
Starfish Gourmet
Last trip we left the day before the new Starfish Gourmet opened. Has anyone taken a look at their cheese selection? Any interesting finds? How about microbrews?

Hey Rick - I bought some cheeses when we were down in December. Pricey, but VERY good. They have a smoked gouda that runs about $24/lb, hands down it is the best we have ever had. That and an excellent cheddar (don't remember the price) were well worth the stop. She has a good selection, I still haven't found a gouda that good locally.
I didn't check out anything else really, the wines were a bit pricey..........but we weren't drinking any. Hopefully she'll have some microbrews for ya!

Rick, I don't recall seeing anything special in the BREWS section. We did have some nice cheeses though. I was looking for something with truffles in it and when I asked the manager he went over a few selections with me and then gave me 50% off the sticker price
I think he was glad to have the chance to answer some questions. I made some comments in my TR about the gourmet shop but I can't recall if I was specific about what cheeses we purchased. I have pictures though

Hey MBW, please let us know how you got the discount. I really like the cheese selection, but the prices are a little steep.
They have aged gouda ($22.99/lb.) that is really good stuff. They were out of blue cheese when I went in last week.
Another favorite is the Cruzan Dark Estate Rum 1.75L for $13.49.
Rick, no microbrews that I saw. I will be sure to ask for them though.

Rick,
Since you are renting a Jeep in St Thomas, you may want to run by the Gourmet Gallery at Crown Bay Marina if you have time to do it and make the ferry. They carry allot of high end foods, cheeses, wine etc. because they cater to the Crewed Mega Yachts. I will try to check out the beer selection next time I'm there.

Very cool, thanks for checking. We are spending our first night at the Crystal Palace, so we'll have time.captainjay wrote:Rick,

Rick,
I was at Crown Bay last night and took a quick look at The Gourmet Gallery selection. It is better than some places but by no means huge. They do have several European beers, Stellar {sp}, Amstel both light and regular. Of course Heineken, Elephant and few odds and ends that I don't remember. The wine and Liquor selections are much more extensive. It will be worth a stop by there to check it out but I would buy the bulk stuff at Cost U Less and stick to buying must haves and luxury items there.
