Back from our Cinnamon Bay adventure with kids ages 3 and 4

Post by Iluvstjohn »

Hi guys! I want to thank everyone who helped us plan our trip and ease our fears. We just returned from 5 days in St. John with our just turned 3 year old son and 4 year old daughter. We stayed at Cinnamon BAy cottages and here are some thoughts on our trip. More to come later with pics!

*never rent a car from Budget in ST. Thomas and drive it over. Our worst mistake.

*Slim's lot came in handy for a trip to town

*polar bear coolers lived up to their name and then some. Thanks for the recommendations!

*Cinnamon Bay beach has some surf....kids preferred Francis or Trunk bay beaches.

*The food prices weren't all that bad (but we live in Boston).....LOL....even the market at cinnamon bay was not so badly priced.

*Woodys is still an old time favorite of ours

*Skinny legs was good too

*Christmas tree in Cruz bay is so cute!

*our "deal" through travelocity ended up in a looooooong day of traveling, but for 175....we sucked it up!

our kids traveled better than we did!

How did you get such a good deal on your air fare?

Looking forward to your report and pictures. It would be nice to look at a beach rather than the snowy sleet that's going on right now.
It's like looking in your soup and finding a whole different alphabet.

we do travelocity and "farewatcher"...we put in 200 for our price for them to email us at, and when they did, the price came up 175! So we played with some dates and were able to get the 5 days in December! So we jumped at it.....it wasn't direct and not the best times to fly with 2 small kids, but all in all....we managed.

Budget...SIGH....where to begin? After a long day of travel we landed around 2:45ish I believe.....you know the drill...get bags, get in line at Budget. Me with 2 kids runnin' around the "airport".......45 minutes later my husband got up to the counter...I know, I know..."island time"....whatever! LOL

#1: They didn't have his reservation "at first"....whatever
#2: They gave him a license plate and we proceded to go find the car....THAT DIDN'T exist.
#3 back to drawing board....back down to airport, get new "license plate number" go find car.

Soooooooooooo, after landing at 2:45 ish...we JUST managed to catch the 5:30 car ferry in Red Hook.....
yeah, that was fun with 2 hungry, tired, whiny kids........

next time, we would have made MUCH better time getting over to Cruz Bay and renting from Conrad or somebody local.

But that's just my 2 cents.....

Can't wait to hear more. I just (like 10 minutes ago) ordered Polarbear coolers for our next trip.
