Royal Caribbean cruise
Royal Caribbean cruise
What do you all think??
One of our employees told me that he had NEVER been on vacation. I told him how great it is for the 4 of us to re-connect, etc.
When we got back from St. John I told him that it was the best vacation ever.
Today he told me that him and his wife are going to go on Royal Caribbean in February to the Virgin Islands.
Now that would not work for my family. We don't like crowds. But Mike and his family are extroverts and would love to get to know people and party with them (or play in the kids cases.)
So, what do you all think? I want his first vacation to be everything to him, his wife, and kids. Is he making a good decision?

We love cruising. It is a completely different vacation than a land vacation but it has many positive sides. Contrary to popular belief, you will not really experience crowds. We cruise on NCL and not once did I ever feel crowded. We were never "herded like cattle" or made to wait in long lines.
There are a million things to do or you can do nothing at all and you can either meet new people or not.
It is a great way to experience several places.
I am sure he will have a great time, a vacation is what you make of it!

If this is his first vacation, a cruise will probably be perfect. Once the decision is made, there aren't a lot of other decisions to make. With a caribbean cruise, there's not a lot of researching to do either.
Cruising is fun - it's what you make of it.
We all love St. John, but it's not for everyone, either (hard to believe

Thank you! Now I am so excited for them!! Is Royal Caribbean a good choice? I was under the impression that it is one of the better operations--the Norweigen (sp) one is the best, right?
You are so right about St. John not being for everyone--not the way we did it anyway. It was the 4 of us all of the time with one or two other people. One day we went out with Pam Gaffin and another day we went out with Josh and Lion In Da Sun.
Anyway, I think Mike would think of that vacation as the worse ever and we just loved it.
My point? Thank you! Now I can relax and be assured that his first vacation is going to be amazing and fit his, and his families, style.

When I was a travel counselor we did a lot of cruising. Europe and SE Asia/Australia in addition to all the Caribbean/Mexico ones. Cruising is a good choice for the inexperienced traveler. We still have a couple of cruises we want to take. You can be active or not by choosing shore excursions to suit your lifestyle. We went on Royal Caribbean twice and it is very good, but most of our long cruises were on Princess.

In my other life....we did several cruises....a great way to travel with a family -- finally decided to stay in one place -- so spent time on STT, Virgin Gorda, ST. Lucia...and now our place of choice is STJ..... but cruising is a great way to learn a bit about lots of places...... and certainly delightful for those who like lots of options and activity! TEll them to enjoy!

We like to cruise. We've been on 4 different cruise lines and they've all been fine. I'm more of an extrovert and my husband is more of an introvert and we both enjoy cruising very much. It is a great way to see different places. Of all of the places we been to, STJ is the only one we've cared to go back to for a land vacation. Tell you that he and his wife are going to have a great time!!

Bill and I have been on two cruises, one RC and one Carnival. Both were very nice and good bang for the buck. Carnival upgraded us free from balcony room to Suite which made that 7 day cruise fantastic. The RC cruise was a shorter one and we had a room with a large window but no balcony, it was fine for a few days for sure! I think its a great first vacation. You can find out where you want to plan your next land vacation that way by seeing a few ports of call.
Some of the excursions are great too but can be pricey. There are plenty of fun activities for all. Tip = bring your own bottle of booze in your checked baggage if you are on a budget!
