one night on St Thomas

Post by cjroyer »

We are staying a week in St John but need on night on St Thomas. Does anyone have any suggestions for a clean and reasonable priced hotel? I was looking at the Green Iguana Hotel. Has anyone ever stayed here?
Thanks! Cindy

Another option is the Best Western Emerald Beach hotel, it is right down the road from the airport, great location for one night. The beach is nice and they have a outdoor bar with pretty good food. The rooms are typical for a beach hotel. Not real nice but clean. We stay there every trip for one night for easy access to the airport. I forget the rate though, depending on the season. I know we didn't go over $200.00 for the night.

Thanks Sandy. I did check that one out too but when we are going in April, the price is up to 265.00. But it's definately a possibility. Thanks again!

Ouch, that is expensive. We go the first week in Dec. Still off season. I'm not sure I would spend that much either. Especially if there is a nicer place for less money. Good luck.

The Crystal Palace
www.crystalpalaceusvi.com
is a very nice B & B with a friendly and knowledgeable owner and host (RonUSVI on this board).
It's right above town and has terrific views. In fact, the webcam on this site is located on its terrace.

If I remember correctly, The Crystal Palace offers free airport pick-up.

We were planning to stay there last trip, but our flight times changed in our favor and we were able to catch the ferry to Tortola/VG.

There's a thread on this and probably not too deep. I had made the same inquiry and have booked the hotel, but just can't remember it off the top of my head. I do recall that it wasn't too pricey. Hope this helps. Ali~

I saw the Crystal Palace too but assumed since it was a B&B they wouldn't do one night. Do you think they would? I guess I'll inquire.
Thanks everyone!

We stayed at the Green Iguana for one night on our last trip (due to late hour of plane arrival).

It was just great. Clean, roomy, polite people, relatively short walk to CA (though it was suggested we take a cab back after dark, which we did). I wouldn't hesitate to stay there again.

We have also done one night at Villa Santana Guest House. Also a very good option.

We've done the Best Western too. The one RIGHT by the airport was pretty much a dive. The one just down the street from the airport was nice.

IMHO, go for the non-chain places.

First, I would definitely call Ronnie at the Crystal Palace - great host and great location. If he is booked I have always thought this looks nice but have not seen it in person.

We've stayed at the BW Emerald Beach twice. It has its advantages. We spent about $200/night all taxes and fees included. 8) Call the hotel directly at 800-233-4936 to get a better rate. They came down $20 per night for us.

We normally stay at the Holiday Inn in CA but this past summer we stayed at the Mafolie Hotel: http://www.mafolie.com/

This was reasonably priced and definitely adequate. Thankfully the taxi driver warned us that it doesn't look like much from the street cuz he was right.

We got in late so we didn't use the pool, but Cat and hubby could tell you more cuz they were there most of the day.

I booked 2 nights at the end of Jan. at the Crystal Palace solely based on the recommendations from this forum. I don't doubt that we will be pleased. Give it a try.
