know you're old hand at stj so was surprised you're on 1st stt car rental. bride and i have done 7 times without a glitch. while your flt sch may not accommodate, what we like to do on leaving stj is:
catch a 10ish barge back to redhook; drive toward the north shore of stt along scenic drive; pull in overlook above ca bay; go to mttop for touistty banana daquiri, take in view of magens and down sirfancis drake channel and last look at stj; drive to east end of stt for overlooks (just a few good ones) and approach airport from east; when we get to airp, we stop short at BW emerald beach and have lunch at their open air restaurant and few final caribes. food and service norm for islands prices lower than most on stj. when you've liquored up only 2 min drive to airport and usual stuff.
has been a reason slow change of pace for a couple on soc sec, probably too dull for all you young bucks out there.
