Reservations car barge?

Post by laurie »

Is it necessary to make a reservation for car barge or do you just show up and hope there is room?
Also why is there such a range for the fee...?$35-$50, does it depend on which company.
Spoke with Dependable and asked re: 12% online discount, the woman I spoke with stated she included the 25% discount but no 12%, maybe only in low season, we are travelling the 12th of Dec. thanks in advance. Laurie

No reservations needed at all. There are three companies and two prices. The gray barges are one company, Boyson and they charge $50, the black and white ones are owned by separate people, Roanoke and Capt. Vic, and both charge either $40 or $42 and they exchange tickets. There are those that will tell you to only buy a one way ticket so you don't get into the predicament on your return, if the one you came on isn't there, however, it should be within the hour.
