I will be bringing a soft sided cooler with me to stj in Nov.I want to lock it and it can't be a big lock and one they can open at the air port if they need to.
any suggestions would be a great help.

All you can do is buy a TSA approved lock and us that.

Hi Sunshine! I went to the luggage store at the mall and got TSA approved combination locks for about $10 each. I locked our cooler & our bags, and they were able to get into them and inspect them with no problem. I know because the cooler was locked differently and there was a TSA inspection card inside each bag. It worked out great!

Funny thing - we used the TSA approved locks and one was missing when we got our bags in STT. I thought they were supposed to put them back.

The TSA locks are great – we use them on 2 of our bags. I have also used tie-wraps that you can get at the hardware store. One time the TSA cut my tie-wrap to do an inspection and then replaced it with a red one. Just another alternative.
