Devers Bay
Devers Bay
My husband and I are planning a trip to St John next May. We usually stay in the Coral Bay area, usually high up on the mountain. One year we spent a few days in a villa above the Westin. It was very hot there, hardly a breeze, so we didn't spend much time sitting outside. I have found a really nice villa in Devers Bay (Island Time) that looks perfect. I believe this villa is about 60 ft above the water and the views are very nice. I'm wondering if this area would have more of a breeze that would make it a little more comfortable to sit out on the deck. The villa doesn't have a pool to cool off in. I'd love to hear from someone who has stayed in this area.
We stayed at Sunset Beach on Devers Bay in 2001 and 2002. There is a breeze and its a nice spot. The bay is definitely snorkelable and the only swimmable spot is right below Island Time. It does get warm in the afternoon with the Western exposure, but that gives you the sunsets too. I would not describe this villa as having a clothing optional deck, but it is largely private.
Since 2002, another house has been built - Dream Come True. If you look at the cv.com site you'll see the, right to left, you have Sunset Beach, Dream Come True and Island Time. In the picture below, Island Time is the villa in the center for the picture, taken from the Southwest side of Devers Bay.

Here's a view of the rocks at the point directly below Island Time.

The snorkel around the point to Chocolate Hole is very good.
Cheers, RickG
