Noah's Little Arks

Post by Connie »

Has anybody rented for a 1/2 day or a day?

Thinking this would be a great birthday present for my husband. A surprise he would love

Would appreciate any information.

We have.

It was alot of fun. I think we did an afternoon, although I could be wrong. The motors have pretty good kick, its bouncy but they are easy to drive. They reccomend you head out to waterlemon and work your way back. We had already snorkeld waterlemon, so we went out to Little Maho by the camp and beached the dingy. On the way back we stopped at Cinimon and Salomon.

We did it in '06 - it was so much fun. We pretty much did the same route as Sailorgirl. It was beautiful to see the island from that perspective too - it is pretty different - plus you get to sneak peeks at some of the homes along the water you can't see from the roads. Pack a simple lunch and tons of water - the half day, IMHO, is just perfect - I think afternoon is great. Head back to Cruz Bay and have a few drinks or dinner at the Beach Bar and watch the sunset!

Sorry, one more thing - I just remembered seeing somewhere that Noah's just got a new fleet of boats too!

we were going to rent one last week but felt like $85 was a little steep for 4 hours. I was wondering if this was the usual price or if it was perhaps a little
price gouging because of being low season.

We've done the dingy rental and also loved it. We rented for the full day and as suggested, started at Waterlemon and worked our way back. We went ashore at Cinnamon and made another two stops. I also saw somewhere that they have new dingys (maybe it was on On-St. John) and some forum members use another dingy rental that I believe operates from out of The Westin (?) If you search some previous threads, I'm sure you'll find it. My recollection is that they thought the dingy's, which had a slightly different design, were more comfortable(?) Anyway, I think it would make for a great suprise for your husband. Ali~

Thanks everybody for that information.

Friends nephew, who i know really well actually works at the Westin, doing the watersports, so I'll have to get in touch with him.

This sounds like it would be so much fun!

I think the Westin rents out the larger "zodiacs", which are nicer, faster, and have a steering wheel/console in the center. We've rented Noah's twice for full days. The first time was awesome, and we had so much fun! We went to Waterlemon first and stopped at quite a few other beaches on the way back. The second time wasn't such a great experience, because the conditions were rough and windy. We really got tossed around by the waves, which would wash over the front of the dinghy, and then the wind would blow the spray right into our faces. We wanted to go back to Waterlemon, but turned around not long after getting around Mary Point where it just got too rough... By the time we turned the thing in, there must have been 6 inches of water inside, and everything we had taken with us was sloshing around in the bottom. We still had a great day, though, and its funny thinking back on it now. It was literally like someone riding along in front of us slinging buckets of sea water in our faces every few seconds. (Anyone ever seen the hilarious Chris Farley "Sea Park" skit on Saturday Night Live? Yeah... it was a little like that, only hopefully the water wasn't disease infested.)

So my advice is to definitely do this... just make sure you pick a calm day.
