Has anyone stayed at Sago Palms recently? Reviews
I was wondering if anyone has stayed at Sago Palms recently. The price seems very reasonable for this villa so I was curious, read: what's the catch here).
Also, exactly where is it located, view etc.
Info. as usual would be appreciated.
thanks

We've booked time at Sago Palms in 2008. The catch is that it's so popular that you can rarely reserve it when you want. Constant repeat clients that come back year after year. We only had a certain time for vacation next year and was surprised to find out our time was available. It has a long drive to get back to it and maybe that is a drawback to some. Must have 4 wheel drive. But, with a Northshore view and rare location surrounded by national park how can we resist. Haven't stayed there yet, but we are looking forward to it. Any comments from recent renters? It has been renovated in the last few years.
I think there is a bit of a catch...and that "you get what you pay for."
It is a beautiful spot---the location/views the second-best I've experienced on-island. The house is nicely laid out and nicely decorated.
When we stayed there, there was a lot of mustiness/dampness. The master bedroom was okay, the bedroom below the living room was all right, but the 3rd bedroom was so very musty and damp we would not have used it and were grateful we did not need it.
#2--the kitchen wasn't in the greatest shape... It was kind of damp. And there were bugs. I thought they were just island bugs, but we had a dinner party one night and a local friend, born and raised on STT, was really kind of horrified by the bugs that suddenly flew out of nowhere. Cockroach/water type bugs.
I felt that for the price, it was what you would expect. Not perfect but with some great pluses (view).
It's been a few years since we were there--maybe things have changed. I know they put in a pool right after we left. But I do think that if it was a perfect villa, it would get more money, considering its location/views.
All that being said, I *would* stay there again. The view to Jost was just magnificent.
