Camera Housing

Post by Jamestown »

Hey All,
Leaving Thursday for STJ...spending the first night on STT and would like to purchase housing for my Canon SD600 while there. Any suggestions as to where I might get a good deal? Should I try to negotiate a
price?

Thanks for your help.

I bought my Canon housing at Royal Carribean in Havensight. They had a bunch of different models, and were friendly and professional to work with. I did not negotiate a price (I just don't feel comfortable doing that, wuss, I know), but when I got home I looked up what I bought online and found that I paid slightly less than I would have if I bought from Amazon or Best Buy.

Hope that helps. Have a great trip!

We bought our camera at Boulchands this year and another several years ago.

Yes I got a good deal. With everything he threw in to make the sale I gave $700. With tax, the same stuff would have been over $1000 in the States.

Yes I negotiated. Your strongest negotiating points are "I haven't gone to (insert Royal Carribbian or Boulchands depending on where you are)." And, "I'll be here for a week. I don't need to do this now." They need to know that you are not on a ship that is leaving tonight. The third thing I do is tell them that I need to talk to my wife. "She would kill me if I just showed up with something this expensive."

They have some room to talk in their price. Why leave money on the table?
