Ting - tini!!

Local chefs taste success ...

Team bartender Steve Potter's "Tingtini," a martini that included Ting, ginger simple syrup, fresh lemon juice, and vodka infused with pineapple and cilantro, also drew raves.

Potter developed the drink through "experimentation, trial and error and a little bit of luck," he said.

To prepare the vodka, he soaked pineapple in the liquor for three days, adding cilantro after a day, he said. Then he began to play with other ingredients, including the drink's namesake soda. "At Grande Cru we have Ting on the shelf," he said. "Oftentimes you try club soda or 7-Up. Ting is as Caribbean as it gets, and it actually made the drink pop."

I always drink Ting and Vodka while in Jamaica. Wish we could get it in the states.

I emailed them to find out how far I have to travel from NJ to buy Ting.....

Hopefully NYC will be the closest...

Don't know where you are in NJ but "my" Wegman's carries it in Ocean Twsp and there is one in Manalapan. Sent mbw there but don't know if she found the Ting. Also Wegman's in Princeton, Woodbridge, Bridgewater, Cherry Hill and maybe a couple of others. Check their website. Think that I might have seen it in Whole Foods too - will check tomorrow when I do my "grocery run."

funny this should come up again. I was in Wegmans (Manalapan) last night and I finally remembered to look for Ting there but couldn't find it. I will have to head over to Ocean one of these days. I prefer the Home Goods over that way anyway so many reasons to head there!

And PS - don't you just LOVE Wegmans?

Guessing maybe it is in Ocean because of the large Caribbean population in nearby towns - especially Asbury Park. There's a couple of good Caribbean restaurants there too. At one time I requested something that the FoodTown near me where I used to shop didn't carry and was able to order a case and picked it up at the store. Don't laugh but my mom loved cherry jelly (not preserves) and I always found Smucker's cherry in Marina Market in Red Hook and brought it home for her since I could never find it here. Other folks brought booze and I carried jelly!
Maybe Wegman's would do the same - depends on who the distributor is and if they carry other products from them.
I have to drop off my car at King (or whatever it is now) someday soon so maybe I could do a delivery or meetcha! ;-) Usually head to Nordstrom's when I do that or out to Jackson. ;-)
