August in St. John?

Post by lionbarb »

Any info on visiting St. John in early August? We were there last October to celebrate our 35th and loved it. Hoping to return with friends, possibly early August 07. Are alot of restaurants, bars, etc. closed in early August? Thanks

I think most restaurants remain open in August. I have a link to Ruth's list which will give you an idea of closings known at this time.

I'll be there beginning Aug. 7 with 2 college girls. We'll be the routy ones at the Beach Bar, or maybe Woody's.

I think everything is open, just be prepared for a little heat and humidity.

I asked this same question about a month ago and got positive responses about August in St. John. It seems that it may be more humid, but most everything appears to be open. So, we'll be there the first week of August this year.

I can't wait!

We've been twice in August. 2nd week and 3rd week. It's hot, but as a cranky National Park Guide once told me "It is the tropics afterall!"

Last year, it was a bit too hot though, but we had crazy weather. No breeze at all and the island was choke-ingly (new word??) stuffy. You could not see STT from Cruz Bay. That's how hazy it was.

On the bright side, we got annoyed one afternoon because Trunk Bay was crowded; I counted 20 people on the whole beach. The whole thing.

If you check the cruise ship schedule, you'll find there are days during the summer with absolutely NO ships in port. Great day for Trunk!!!!!!!!
