"Susie St. John's" Trip Report - Part 2 w/pics

Post by Jan&MikeVa »

Day 4, Tuesday 5/29:
We awoke to a soft rain, and rolled back over. Steve had singed up at Low Key Watersports on Sunday for an AM dive today, which he did. Judy & Walt were taking Susie shopping, picking up Steve, and the 4 of them went to lunch. Mike & I enjoyed a lazy morning at the villa and some "private" pool time! :P :P :P

They had lunch at the Sun Dog Café and LOVED IT, rave reviews over the food and evidently a server who was TOO GOOD with Susie.........they all had a great time! Steve was disappointed with his dive, the cloud cover didn't make for the best conditions and the guys on the boat didn't seem all that interested in showing their charges a good time. Steve said the snorkeling was much better and he saw a lot more. No beach today, which was okay............we usually keep one day for hanging out at the villa and enjoying the pool. One odd thing about this villa; there were no banana-quits. We wondered if it was because of the construction, it was really strange. And I missed them; I had all this sugar left over!

Dinner tonight was at Shipwreck; we had a good time. The food was great, the service over the top, and a nice breeze! We enjoyed steak, coconut shrimp, curry chicken, caser salad, shrimp scampi, mahi special. No desert, we were stuffed!

My sister Judy w/her two favorite men!

On the way home we had the windows down and the intoxicating aroma of the flowers and greenery on Centerline Road was so enjoyable! We ALL hit the pool when we got home and Judy practiced snorkeling while the guys played with the bug zappers! Susie and I continually hung over the edge of the pool looking at the view and lights on STT. She loved watching the lights come on, the sunset, and she harassed the "noisy frogs". She just couldn't get over how loud they are, she kept telling them to "be quiet"! Our resident cat has turned out to be very skittish and nervous about being fed scraps. I love animals and tried VERY hard to get her to warm up to me; she never did. Mike took his stitches out tonight, but didn't tell me until the next day, I'm very squeamish!

Day 5, Wednesday 5/30:
Today was the day we were to meet with some locals on Island. My nephew's very good friends parents live on Island and they had invited us over for lunch and a boat ride. We had a great lunch and wonderful visit with them, but we never made it to the boat. It was pretty cloudy, a little rainy, and getting late in the afternoon so we spent our afternoon talking. They have a beautiful home on the beach; it was breathtaking! Judy was worried about how they would handle Susie and how Susie would be with them. It was PERFECT, Susie was a doll and they warmed up to her like most people do. They have invited Mike & I out for a fishing trip when we go back in December, we're planning to take them up on the offer!

Judy & Steve had a late afternoon shopping spree, just the two of them...which they enjoyed! Susie, Mike, and I hung out at the pool and had a great time!

A little rain won't hurt Steve

At some point we were visited by an iguana, which I attempted to get to know (I talk to ALL animals), but he didn't like us. He anointed the pool deck in a nasty way and then left.

I had dinner duty tonight and prepared jerk pork, roasted potatoes, and salad. Another great evening with everyone in the pool, we broke out the water pistols and had some good fights! No beach again today, but it was a good one anyway! Resident cat brought a friend with her tonight, last we would see of him.

I'll wrap this up tomorrow - it sure sucks being back at work!

Isn't Sun Dog fabulous :)

Anyway, with the bananaquits I have found they tend to leave the sugar alone for a month or so when all the flowers are blooming as they don't need us anymore :(

When I was on Island in April, we didn't have any Banaqits either. I though that was strange but we had tons of Pearly Eyed Thrashers so I just thought they were scaring the little qits' away.

I bet it was so great to watch Susie in that environment. I bet her expressions just were worth a fortune.

I am glad you all enjoyed your trip. Don't worry there are plenty of us out there who talk to all the animals, lizards, birds, etc... How did Susie like all the palm trees?

The photo of the umbrella in the pool is too funny!
It's like looking in your soup and finding a whole different alphabet.

Jan: I'm finally catching up on everyone else's trip reports after being self-absorbed with my own report & pictures! I'm loving your report! I also try to make friends with every animal I see! Unfortunately we didn't have any kitties at our villa. On to read your next installment! :D
