We love it there. I can't believe how much nicer it is than when I used to go as a kid. Definitely not the lowkey vibe of STJ, but its drivable from N. Va, affordable and the kids get to get their toes (and entire bodies) in the sand. Its awesome. A different kind of awesome, but awesome nonetheless!

Hey Flip Flop, we go to Virginia Beach sometimes for a long weekend. We're about 4 hours away. It is way better than it used to be when I was a kid. There are certain weeks to avoid
but most of the time it is a great family atmosphere.
The baby is so cute. My son who is 21 moved out today and it was hard. He's only 5 minutes away but still.... It's funny, he wasn't here for dinner but he stopped by around 9 and said he hoped it was ok to hang out with us sometimes. We acted cool and said 'sure'.
The truth is we want him to hang out with us lots!
Hard to let the your babies go but it is something you work towards when raising your kids. For them to be successfully independent.
PS - Hubby thinks he'll be back before too long!

Looks like it did during Memorial Day weekend when I was down there - they were getting ready for last weekend's Patriotic Festival....is that when you were there. Great place, my brother just moved there in November and I was down to visit. Used to vacation in Sandbridge when we were kids too.
Your mini's are adorable....I could just squeeze those cheeks!

We were there May 25 (Fri of Mem Day weekend) - June 1. We got to enjoy some of the festivities, live music, fireworks for the holiday but the weekdays were nice and quiet. We kept commenting on what a nice mix it was.
Joanne - re: your son moving out. My nephew who I've known since he was about 5 went to college last fall and I went through major withdrawl. We went from seeing him LITERALLY every day to not at all. Now that he's back for the summer. He has a job, but it is so funny. He gets off at 8pm and is at our house by 8:30 with his nose in our fridge. Mind you his parents live 2 miles away! He just likes to hang with us and we love it too.
