Help!!!
Leaving for STJ in 2 weeks on our honeymoon. Have read all the beach stuff so I'm good to go there. But looking for some cool places/bars to hang at night with live music and dancing. We are 50 yr old party'ers who like live music and drink.
First of all - congratulations! Secondly, there are quite a few little fun spots to grab a drink, chat with some folks and maybe dance a little!!
In Cruz Bay there are several watering holes, all within an easy walk. The Beach Bar in Wharfside Village has live music Wednesday through Saturday and Jazz on Sunday afternoons. Fred's, across the street from the Lime Inn, has calypso/reggae music occasionally (maybe on Wednesday's and Friday's?). The Fish Trap has Karaoke every other Thursday and we had a great time dancing there in April. The Quiet Mon is a nice place for chatting with the locals and checking out the scene. Woody's is a little bar for the frat boy/girl in all of us with a great happy hour and really fun people. There are several more bars all within a couple of short blocks of each other.
I am not as familiar with the Coral Bay side, but I know Skinny Legs does have entertainment sometimes. I have also heard good things about Island Blues.
Have a great time!!

'scuse me but...
I could possibly be totally absolutely wrong but having just spent about two weeks on The Rock, I don't think I heard a "peep" from anyone at Fred's. And at The Beach Bar I only recall Jazz on Sunday. Now I may not be able to recall due to other reasons, like Umbrella Drinks and Heinies but I just don't remember hearing any live music beyond Sunday Jazz.
You might consider "making your own music" and be done with it!

Congrats
Wish you both the best....I havent been happier since meeting my better half....
Islandboy220,
You are in luck! You will be in St. John (Love City) for their July Fourth Celebration. Which is considered Carnival by statesiders and the island will be alive and jumping 24/7 with live music and drinking. July fourth is the last day of the Celebration and the island than will be a ghost town for all partygoers. There will be live music every night in Carnival Village.
