need favorite drink recipes

Post by jp »

Leaving Friday.

For the first time.

With a spouse who doesn't have a birth certificate with a raised seal (original state dept. cert. is with much delayed passport app.

Gotta a feeling I'm going to need some tropical beverages.

Hope she can re-enter the US.

Passport people say it will be sent overnight today. Don't have much confidence in that!

Personally, I would start drinking now. Dark and Stormy:

1 part Goslings Black Seal
3 parts Barritt's Ginger Bear
over ice

Who has the best rum punch recipie?

The Chicago area is being overrun by millions (not kidding) of seventeen
year cicadas crawling up from underground. I need a rum punch fast!

sea-nile: I guess you don't get the cicadas up in WI? Friends of mine went camping there over the weekend and only saw 2 -- I was amazed because we are overrun! The air sounds like a million tiny maracas are being shaken in the trees.

jp -- have a great trip!

Mango Rum Drink Recipes - from Beas Maison thread

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Here's 2, for those who asked

1. FROM THE BAREFOOT CONTESSA
1 mango
1/4 cup lime juice
1 teaspoon confectioners sugar
1/2 cup rum
1/4 cup orange juice
cup of ice

blend all on high for a minute until smooth

2. ALTERNATE (haven't made this one, proportions are a little different, it's for when you have a larger mango)
1/4 cup + 2 tbl. Rum
1 1/2 cup mango
3 tbl lime juice
2 tbl orange juice
2 teaspoons confectioners sugar
2 cups ice cubes

blend all on high for a minute until smooth

I think we are supposed to get them and I remember some 17 years ago. I haven't seen one yet though. I live about 1 mile from the Illinois border so I think we may get them. Got any recipes? :D
