How is the drought??
From some of the web cams it looks like the island is greening up a bit.

Stella: St. John has been and remains in a drought that is as severe as many long term residents can recall. Recently, there have been a few, very small showers that have served to green up the vegetation, which recovers very quickly, but our cisterns remain very stressed. Even locals who normally conserve water and get by completely off rain water are ordering loads, at nearly $500 each. St. Thomas has not been as afflicted; we have recently watched as dark clouds that skirted St. John rained extensively there. There is general consensus that this year's very strong El Nino in the Pacific ocean is at least partially responsible for the severe drought this year in the Caribbean. Here's hoping that this year's still intensifying El Nino relents by next spring, and that the VI gets back to a more typical rainfall pattern next year.

On the bright side, 2015 looks to be a very safe zero as far as tropical storms go. The two named storms that did pass by were near-total duds on the rain front, much as we could have used their rain.

Edit: Our landscaper passed along a comment by Eleanor Gibney, who said that she had never seen such a drought since she began measuring rainfall on St. John back in 1958.

All the best,

Kevin

Thanks for the update - Here's hoping you get the much needed rain for the cisterns, animals and vegetation (at night of course for vacation reasons :D )
It seems like there is still a ways to go...
