Prepaid phone on STJ?

Post by lbrlwyr »

Since our nextel phones will not work on vacation, I was thinking about getting one of those cheapo prepaid phones from cingular/at&t that I saw at walmart for $18 and then just load up on the pay-as-you cards (@ .10/min).

Has anyone had good/bad experience with these? Are there any alternative pre-paid companies that have better coverage on STJ? (we are staying in Coral Bay)

Thanks,
Eric

We are supposed to call the villa owner at the ferry dock in STT when we arrive. If our cell phones don't work, are there pay phones at the ferry docks?
We have Verizon and Virgin Mobile.

I had no problems in Cruz Bay with my Virgin Mobile prepaid phone....the phones are often free with a purchase of $20 of air time. I think you can pick them up at Best Buy & Radio Shack. Really easy and cheap.....it's about 25 cents a minute to/from anywhere in the US, including the USVI.
