June "crowds"? (compared to May/August)
June "crowds"? (compared to May/August)
Hi all,
We hit a snag in our trip planning for 2014. We've only been to STJ in May or August, but circumstance leads us to the last two weeks of June this year. Good circumstances - my first niece or nephew is expected in May!!
We love the island when it's quiet. Remember when you could have Solomon to yourself for hours? Although I don't expect that anymore, we still prefer it relatively quiet.
Can anyone comment if there is a noticeable increase in visitors in June. I'm thinking with schools letting out, people avoiding the heat and possible storms of late summer, and the lead up to Carnival, it might be a bit crowded?
Also, I appreciate the comments re Beach Bar - can't wait to be there!

We usually go the middle of June and things are fine. You do need to be at the beach early if you want to be there by yourself. Not saying you will be but usually quiet until 10. Still not big crowds anywhere we went.Go to Trunk on a day when the cruise ships are not in St Thomas.
Beach Bar change? Not sure. Our only problem was that when they gave my son his credit card it
wasn't his. They gave it to someone else and our son was leaving the next morning. They called at 3 in the morning to say they had it. Son went home without it and we picked it up the next day.

My husband and I have always traveled to STJ in April or
May. This year I was fortunate to visit in May and June. I was amazed at how many people were on the beaches in June, but it was Carnaval week. I believe we arrived June 26 and departed on July 1. It wasn't a bad thing,but it was definitely different. However, the weather was so much better. We are planing our 2014 trip for early June.

June will be a bit crowded but not crazy at least the beginning the second two weeks may get a little more busy as you are coming closer to carnival finale weather is usually great.Don't worry have fun
