Bordeaux Mt Road is NOT paved all the way from Coral Bay to Centerline Road. There is a short section that was blacktopped a while back that is now the roughest part and then a short section of dirt rock that is in pretty good shape. I drive it regularly in a Jeep without the need for four wheel drive. You just need to take a slow and have a high clearance vehicle. There are some very steep concrete stretches that can be difficult to climb when the road is wet. I kick it into 4 WD in these sections if it is raining. Also, be aware that there is a section that is one lane. Approach this slowly and peek around the bend before proceeding. It a great drive with some fantastic scenery.

Bordeaux Mountain Road (Route #108) is nothing to be afraid of anymore. It is 95% paved and while you have to be sober to drive it I love doing it each time we are there. Once you go over the top and start down towards Coral Bay your view opens up towards the East all the way to Virgin Gorda. Easily some of the best view properties on St. John and there are many on St. John.
