Trip Report: August 3 - 16 (Day 6)
I always forget how TIME CONSUMING trip reports are until I start doing them! Lawwwwwd!
(Clicking on Day 5 will also show you Days 1 - 4.)
Day 5: http://www.virgin-islands-on-line.com/v ... khHMhafccg
Somehow, I couldn't fall asleep the previous night, but D did. So goes life. Even despite the lack of sleep, we were up and at 'em at 7am. I enjoyed the Starbucks Mocha again (thankyouverymuch, previous guest), and a bagel.
We watched some of The Today Show, and left around 9am. Dropped off the garbage at the dumpster at the bottom of Mamey Peak, and off to Gibney we went. One other car was there. Score! We stayed from 9:30am until about 2pm. We saw plenty of flamingo tongues, the largest parrotfish EVER, and other goodies. Amazingly enough, I didn't see any squid this year. And I ALWAYS see squid here.
Of note - this was the first day I had EVER used fins. Seriously. WHAT have I been thinking up until this point? MAN, you can cover SO much more ground SO much faster. I will NEVER snorkel without fins again!!!!!!!!!
While out snorkeling, we saw Kekoa and some other cats pull up, stay a little while, and then leave. Somehow, I always feel "safer" with others in the water with me. So, their loudness didn't really bother me that much. One day, I will do a Kekoa sail!

We got hungry around 2, and decided to go to Sam and Jack's for a late lunch. We LOVE this place! Both of us had our usuals - the Wolf (shrimp) and the Sammy (a la TONS of meat). We also got 2 cokes (sometimes you just crave a coke), an edamame/quinoa side, and homemade chips.

Wanted to pick up some beverages since we were hosting happy hour at the villa the next night, so we headed downstairs to the Starfish Gourmet Market. Picked up passionfruit Cruzan, soda, sprite, Matua Sauvignon Blanc.
Afterwards, we went by St. John Ice (in the Lumberyard) for water refills (75 cents / gallon - can't beat that with a stick!!!), and then on to St. John Spice for my Kiss of the Jumbie. FINALLY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 1/4 lb = $6, and man if that didn't last me the rest of the trip. No worries - I bought a pound to go on our last day. Just enjoyed some this morning with the Coffemate Coconut Creamer. Oh my yum. Although somehow, it never tastes as good back home versus enjoying it on STJ. Imagine that. ha!
We got gas, and air in our tires. Who knew AIR IS FREE ON ST. JOHN?!? I find this SO weird. In the US, we pay for air, but on STJ, it's FREE?! STJ - where EVERYTHING costs 10X more than at home....whaaaaat?!? Anyway. I digress.
Oh, for the curious - gas was $4.79 / gallon when we were there.
Afterwards, we went back home (we can dream), and hung out by the pool....which was FREEZING. It was super windy this day, so I think that contributed to it. D didn't mind, though, so in he went. I read mags by the pool.
We enjoyed Shipwreck leftovers for dinner, and I finally ate my PB pie from there as well. Heavenly.
Handled some work emails, played online, and watched Big Brother. Asleep by 11pm and whaddya know - I slept like a baby tonight.
