Monday to Monday???

Hi everyone!
Found decent airfare on American (Thanks to RickG for mentioning his deal; it made me look) out of RIC for June 2014. Our favorite unit at Lavender Hill is booked for Saturday and Sunday of that week and opens up on Monday. Just wondering if anyone has experience doing Monday to Monday and what the airport traffic is like and if they have had problems with flight delays, etc. We've only done Saturday-Saturday in the past so I have nothing to compare it to.

Have also considered coming in on Sunday and staying one night at Cruz Bay Boutique Hotel until the LH unit opens up and just picking up the Jeep on that Monday morning and heading to the beach til check in time at LH.

We really have no business going in 2014, but this flight is actually pretty much what we paid this past June and has got me thinking/pondering!

Any thoughts/suggestions appreciated.

I almost always travel OFF Saturday to Saturday...I usually travel Mon-Wed. down and the same back...

Sat to Sat is usually the worst for crowds traveling to the Caribbean....

We generally travel on Tuesdays or Thursdays - it's always better than Saturdays. I would think Monday would be similar.

We're from Richmond, and went Monday to Monday via Dulles (Direct Flights each way!) last April for Spring Break. Easy travel both ways. Got to STT airport 2 hours early and walked directly to the ticket agent. Only "snaggle" was that Budget had to switch cars around to accomodate our reservation. I'd imagine most of the rental cars are booked Sat - Sat. We got a Jeep -just had to wait much too long to get it.

We're going down on Saturday this Winter, but coming home on Monday.

I prefer to fly (anywhere) on Tues through Thurs. Fares are generally lower and you get less bussiness travel if you stay away from Mondays and Fridays and you don't get the weekend travelers either.

Adding to the chorus, we prefer weekday travel. With kid's schedules we end up doing Saturday-Saturday a lot... but the baby goes to college in 705 days.

I had what has to be the best deal possible back in May on a Wednesday to Wednesday trip purely by accident. My son lives in Cruz Bay and we were coming for our second visit and I actually stumbled on a Delta airfare from St. Louis to either Dallas or Houston (don't remember) for $207 ROUND TRIP. I was just about sick as I booked it on a 96 hour hold as I had not spoken to him yet and it turned out the dates were not good for him. I actually had to cancel the flights (3 people, round trip, St. Louis to St. Thomas for a TOTAL of $621.00 I KNOW I will NEVER find that kind of fare again but will keep searching!
