Burger wars part two

Post by EagleRayLover »

Along the lines of the previous post about the best burgers, what's the worst burger you have had on island? I think I just had mine, but don't want to tell before I hear other reposes!

I had a really bad one a few years ago, but I should have known better as the place is not known for burgers - but rather, for other types of food. Out of respect, I can't mention the name of the place...

So no one wants to play! Well I was on
My way over To Driftwood David's after
Working as I was famished, but I forgot they were closed so I went to Jake's. it was bad - one of those frozen Patties that was cooked way to well
Done for me. ( like a hockey putt) no juiciness and
Really not much taste at all. I will
Say the potatoe salad was pretty good though!

my response will take some explaining and will probably offend some of the loyals, but wives' burger comments need sharing. my travel buddy, mack, loves any skinny l burger and he and I always eat there several times when on island alone or when with wives but we are roaming island w/o them. mack's a big eater and always talking about his favs. when comes to burgers, always sls.

well during last trip with wives, they consented to lunch (bugers) at skinny ls. the verdict: mack - still the best, me - I liked but have had better, and both wives - worse ever had! now anytime we're together and mack has new dining suggestion, the w's stock answer, "well it has to better than skinny legs" so let's give it a try.

mack did get in 2 trips to skinny l on july guy trip, but now their burgers are only second best after he found big g burger and string fries at joe's rum hut (3 trips).

ERL - I was having a really hard time thinking of a place that would serve a bad hamburger. Jake's, huh? That's too bad because I really like their breakfast. Thanks for the heads up and taking a bad one for the burger tasting team!!

Now, make sure you get back to DD's soon. I'm curious about your opinion of their burger!

Worst Burger Story also the Best Burger Story.

Ivan's on JVD. We usually take the public ferry for the day and stop at Ivan's in the morning then visit Soggy Dollar and neighbors in the afternoon.

Have you ever had an Ivan's burger? It's a frozen 1/4 patty that's cooked from frozen on a flat top grill. In the states, it is the lowest form of food. The kind you get at the Little League stadium next to the hot dogs cooking on the roller grill.

But - on JVD - sitting at the picnic table looking out at the crystal blue water - well - that's one damn fine burger!

We stopped by Skinny Legs back in June for lunch, it was busy as usual, so while we were trying to get waited on, I started watching the cook prepare burgers on the grill, he had on a very disgusting nasty stained shirt that he constantly wiped his hands on and then proceeded to use his hands to press down on the burgers and add onions on top. When I saw him do this over and over, I decided it was time to take the family to another restaurant, which was Shipwreck Landing, the food was great there and at least I could not see what was taking place in the kitchen.

The best burger we had was from Woody`s.
