I LOVE that you say, "We accidentally found cheap flight"..... that's the funniest thing I've read all day!!
Now you need to post on the "Get St John thread". You might GET St John if you accidentally book a cheap flight." LOL

I "accidentally" was "obsessively" checking airfare prices 10 times a day and then I "accidentally" took out my debit card and purchased a flight. Lol. I love it.

By the way, I'd love to hear about the cheap flight you accidentally bought. Delta by chance?

YEAH!!! Would love to hear what airline and when you are going. Still looking at flights for December.
We have stayed at Bay House and Periwinkle Cottage in Coral Bay, both are very reasonable. Bay House is walking distance to Lily's, Aqua Bistro and Island Blues.

Okay, this is my opening to plug the villa I sincerely believe is The Best Deal on the island. I have no financial interest in this place - we just stayed there in 2009 and loved it. If I could find a way to live on St. John, that's where I'd like to live.northerngal wrote:We want to stay around Coral Bay and need cheap. Is Island Blues re-opening?
My suggestion is Creolla - a modest little cottage sitting on an acre of land at the very top of Ajax Peak. It is 100% secluded and has a lovely deck with a gazebo, a sunken hot tub, and a spectacular view east and south. Rates for 2 people range from $1000/wk Jun-Dec to $1500/wk Jan-Apr.

Island Blues is open. Donkey Diner is closed.

I'm with Dreamshark on this one. Creolla is a very good deal. It is super private and you get a good deal for the money. It has two pretty small bedrooms, but it works. It has beautiful views of the rolling mountains and Coral Bay, and the hot tub is so nice at night. You will also get frequent visits by donkeys, which is always an added bonus.

That place looks great but is already booked. I got our cheap flights by checking Matrix flight search. our dates were flexible so I wanted to search by the month.

I stayed there in 2012. I really enjoyed it, although it is very basic. Not sure how easy it will be to book right now, though. It's the small cabana on Captain John and Marcia Stewart's property. Captain John recently passed away. I know Marcia has the memorial service up north at the beginning of August, not sure when she'll be headed back to St John.dreamshark wrote:Well, if you REALLY want to go cheap, there's Christmas Cottage. http://www.vrbo.com/281412
If you can make it work though, I recommend it - Marcia is a wonderful person and I look forward to staying with her again some day.
