Passports #'s & BVI Baot Trip

Post by cruiserkcs »

We have booked a day trip to BVI, but the boat we are booked on is asking for our passport #'s, DOB, names, etc now. (the trip is a couple of weeks away) They say they need it ahead of time to clear us thru customs on STT since they are picking us up on STJ. Do you think it is safe to give out this info on the phone to them? Seems scary to me to give out that info these days. Has anyone else had to do this? This is not a private charter. It is a large boat.

We were asked to do the very same thing and I did it. Last trip, I gave it to them when I was on island over the phone. this trip I emailed it to Patsy a couple of weeks before. Hope this helps!

Our charter boat captain told us he needed to file our passport numbers with Homeland security before we left on the trip. I had no problem giving him the information.

Same for us. I was not overly thrilled emailing all of that info, however, it seemed to be the norm and just did it.

Thank you for the replies. I felt better knowing that it seemed the norm. I called her with all the info this afternoon.
