Lesson learned

Long story,so beg your pardon. Short version : the folks at Tourist Trap ( ESP Mary and Larry) are awfully kind, generous ,and friendly.L&L jeep rental customer service last week was lacking . Nonexistent.

Long story if interested:

I just rented last week from L &L. A couple days into the week, the keys got locked in the car ( at the tourist trap). I called L and L and they said someone would come with a key but it would cost me $50. Fine. Well, Al came out with 7 key fobs and none worked. He said he'd call the and get someone to come with the other keys. Howev, he didn't get a signal on his phone, so he left me not knowing what would happen. Larry ( tourist trap owner ) and Mary ( who works there ) were so kind and let us take over their phone . I called L & L and they said that the owner had the key, and proceeded to give me his number ( and I got no answe) I call the office again, and was given Kurts number to call, as they said the owner was with Kurt. Well , kurt answered and told me that there was no other key. He said he would call Dwight , the tow truck man, who could open it. Ok.
Well , Dwight doesn't answer, and Kurt told me he left a message so he would call me when Dwight called back. I asked him what I would do if he didn't call and he said well, it was my fault, after all, that the keys were locked up.
Meanwhile , several sympathetic folks, including some locals tried calling someone, but he was off island. They said to try the police, I did. The nice policeman said to call Bell's towing. I did. He answered and arrived within 45 min. ( good as we were outside coral bay and he was in Cruz bay. Nice fellow. He tried for awhile and in 15 min with 3 of us working , we managed to remove the keys with absolutely no harm to the jeep, $85 ( and we tipped him )
Mary bought him a root beer ( he doesnt drink) and everyone was jolly after that 3 1/2 hr ordeal.
Everyone was amazed at the lack of service for L&L. Also amazing that no other key existed ( and unbelievable to most of us)
When I returned the jeep a few days later, they asked if We were the ones with key trouble, yes indeed we answered kindly. That would be us. He old us that , well. You know, people get the fobs wet and that keeps them from working. Well, , we said, we only needed a metal key to open our door. He just said , yes, that would have been all we needed.
Gee. I think we will use courtesy car rental as suggested by many folks at tourist trap. At least rhe Tourist Trap was a good place to be stranded, nice and kind folks there! ( not to mention the lobster roll, nachos, and beverages )
Also, don't anyone lock the car except with the fob remote!
