Rapture

Post by HughA »

We know liamsaunt has stayed here so perhaps you will answer. We're wondering just how high up the villa is. From the pictures and the description that it is only a 5 minute walk to the Westin we are thinking it might be down a little too low for us. Any info would be much appreciated.
Thank you,
Hugh

We came very close to booking Rapture for our first visit to STJ but ended up having to change travel dates and the villa was already booked for that timeframe. However, beforehand, did have a lot of questions for the villa managers (St. John Ultimate Villas) and our understanding is that Rapture is located on one of the "higher ridges" in Virgin Grand Estates and offers a nice hilltop "panoramic" view (with great sunsets) plus nice breezes because of its elevation. (The view in its photos online look amazing!). Not sure it would be an easy walk to/from the Westin just based on how Kristen and Christine (villa managers) described its location (with steeper road(s) to the villa).
Hopefully liamsaunt will see your post and reply. Also would be a good idea to contact St. John Ultimate Villas. They were very helpful and patient with all of our questions.

We stayed at Rapture in February. It does sit fairly high up in the hill which allows for those beautiful views. The online pictures of the villa are very accurate; the place is gorgeous. I really don't think it's a five-minute walk to the Westin, definitely longer. It would be a heck of a walk back up to the villa as the road leading up to Virgin Grand Estates is fairly steep with at least two switchbacks to negotiate. We really enjoyed staying there. The pool area and "gallery"/covered porch were beautiful spots to hang out and watch the sunsets.

Rapture is very high up in the hill. Other than Casa de Sonadores, it is the highest house in Virgin Grande Estates. I would not describe it as walkable to the Westin, you would have to hike all the way back up the hill. There used to be a driveable road down from VGE to the Westin but it is gated off now. Not sure if there is still walking access via that route or not.
It's like looking in your soup and finding a whole different alphabet.
