Orchid Villa/Ilios?? Anyone stayed recently?

We stayed at Ilios and really enjoyed it. The layout is great for couples or older kids. You do have to walk outside to get from bedrooms to Living/dining/Kitchen but that did not bother us at all

Make sure you find out how close Orchid is to that big house that is being built on Klein right now. I think it is on the same side of the bay and the new house is very much still in the heavy construction phase.

I have not stayed at Ilios but I have stayed on Hart Bay before, which is where that house is. It's really nice over there, you get the sounds of the waves and the (rocky) beach is usually deserted. There is supposedly very good snorkeling in the bay but it was never calm enough to get in when we where there.

I'm new to this forum so don't know if it's ok to reply to this post. My husband and I own Ilios and often stay there. The house is very comfortable and very well equipped. If you have specific questions, I'd be happy to answer them.

I haven't stayed at Ilios, but visited once and got a tour. It's a very nice villa, with a whitewashed look reminiscent of Greece, open spaces with pergolas, and you can hear the waves below from the deck.

My husband and I stayed in Ilios our first visit to STJ in 2007. Loved the layout, the sound of the surf below and the pool. The master suite has a great outdoor shower. It has been many years since we were at Ilios, but I do remember that the bedroom over the kitchen had a window that the villa above could look in . . .there were no blinds or curtains on the window at that time. We did not use this room so don't know if it would be an issue. Ilios will always be a special place for me. My husband made me a blue adirondack chair and had the entrance gate to Ilios painted on it. A constant reminder of our first visit to St. John. I love your chair! There have been many updates at Ilios since 2007. The house beyond Ilios has been completely redone without windows facing Ilios, so the 2nd floor bedroom has privacy. In addition to the sound of waves, there's a view as far as St. Croix with cruise ships heading by around breakfast time and in the evening.
I hope you'll return.
