Are houses really that expensive?

Yes..and if you notice, those weren't high end homes either. Wondered what his job is, did it say?

I have good friends who live on St. John. They rent and are looking for a home. They work on the island but are completly priced out of ownership. what would happen to St. John if the workers can't afford to stay and raise a family?

He's the sales manager at Grand Bay... Why do you think they showed a unit on TV that had nothing to do with the type of property they were looking for? :wink:

And yes, those are the more "affordable" homes on island.

Yes most are and they never talk about how outrageous the electric bills will be. I have lived on St John & St Thomas, both are pricy so I scaled down expectations and rented a studio. BTW, most of the locals that work on St John live on St Thomas, one of the reasons the ferried run so early each day. :cry:

I just got the biggest giggles reading this as I missed the episode's original airing so when I got to see it last night , I was amused at the inconsistencies. I loved going back and reading what people wrote in November. Now saying that - it was still awesome seeing St John and the good ol' boys( donkeys and goats). On a FB page, people have commented that he didn't even live on STT- that Grande Bay had given him a unit rent free for one year- so my guess is the advertising was part of the deal and the two bedroom was way out of their price range. I hope they enjoy their home and their baby was a doll!
