Bananas
Bananas
CG/FG/Margo - I just spent 10 days working in NOLA and the profusion of babana plants is obvious. Your BananaZilla can only get bigger. We're off to STJ Wednesday where bananas are landscape plants. Here in DC we've had a mild winter and the hottest summer on record. I dug up a couple of bananas from neighbor a couple of years ago - they are doing quite well in the backyard of our Capitol Hill home and last count was 5 large and 10 secondary plants (be careful what you ask for...) The plants are over 20' tall, and we have BANANAS!!! The honey bees are swarming the flower.

When the going gets weird, the weird turn pro.

Re: Bananas
Super cool, Chet!! My "zilla" has gotten 2 new leaves since Hurricane Isaac, I haven't posted a pic recently. I'm reluctant to put her in the ground yet, as we may look for a new house to live in, in the spring. If we stay in this house, she will get planted, but in the meantime, I think I'll definitely have to get a bigger pot! Our pool cage has a flat top, so she may outgrow it before long anyway!! Love your pix, banana bread soon come!! Nothin' sweeter than a home-grown banana!
