Catamaran sailing on St John

Post by ihochman »

I was wondering if anyone has sailed on the 40' Catamaran called The Scubadu out of Cruz Bay??
Six of us are going to St John for 6 days around Thanksgiving and would love to do a day sail with snorkeling and maybe going to Jost. I don't think Scubadu goes to Jost but I might be willing to give that up for a private charter for us and a beautiful cat. I've sailed a number of times with Capt Clark on White Wing and loved it. Thought we'd try something new with the newbies we're bringing down.

We charted a private sail on Scubadu during our last trip to STJ in February 2011. There were 6 of us, and there was plenty of space onboard. I'm not sure if they take a trip to Jost because one member of our group did not have a passport, so we did not ask. Capt. Joe did take us to Waterlemon Cay and a few other snorkel spots - we saw a ton of starfish, barracuda and turtles. Lunch was delicious (we had the Caeser salad with the jerk chicken, simple but good) and they were not shy with the rum punches. We would certainly go out with them again.

We have been sailing on the Scubadu every year since 2004 so I guess you can say we like it! It is a great cat to sail on. Captain Joe makes terrific food - including my favorite fish tacos! I don't think he goes to Jost anymore but you can always contact him to reconfirm.
